With campuses and sites reaching across Virginia and beyond, George Mason University has a sizable regional presence and a global reach. Our locations serve Mason's 39,000-plus students, as well as nearly 10,000 faculty and staff.
Is there anything more indicative of a university's nature than its campus? If form is indicative of function in any way, our campuses are each iconic and representative of the Mason spirit.
On each campus we strive to provide all the resources students, faculty, staff, and guests could possibly need during their stay. With everything close at hand, our community is free to focus on their world-changing work and research, safe in the knowledge that Mason has their back.
Similar resources are made available to remote members of our community as well. As the world moves more and more to digital-first solutions, Mason is right there to meet you where you are. With both classes and careers available remotely, Mason is proud to involve people across the globe in our community.
Learning on Campus
Mason’s campus has more than 40 residence halls, from suites to apartments. More than 75 percent of all freshmen live on campus. Dorm and townhouse style housing is available for upper-classmen as well. A variety of amenities are available within each building, including high-speed Internet access and free laundry facilities (but you still have to fold). We also offer Living Learning Communities (LLCs) where you can reside among like-minded students who share your passion for a particular field or interest, such as arts, outdoor adventure or sustainability.
Graduate students looking for campus housing can find it at Masonvale or Beacon Hall.
Mason is here for everyone. Our contemporary student population falls into one of six categories:
- Off-Campus Students
- Student Parents
- Student Veterans/Military Affiliates
- Adult Learners (Undergraduates aged 25+)
- Online Learners
- Transfer Students
Contemporary Student Services (CSS) is there to ensure all students feel at home at Mason. Students looking for housing assistance and finding resources on campus can contact CSS for assistance.
The INTO George Mason University Center
International students who live in the Ángel Cabrera Global Center live with 270 Mason students and have access to free laundry facilities, 22 classrooms, a meditation space and a dining hall. Study and hang out with friends in the lounges between classes and get to know the INTO Mason staff who can help you with tutoring, academic advising, finding an internship, or any other question you may have as a Mason student.
Opportunities to become engaged and involved in leadership experiences, organizations, exciting events, and meaningful programs abound at the university, even from a distance. Mason Online allows students to take the same classes offered on campus in an online format while at home, stationed abroad, or traveling. Programs and courses maintain the same academic rigor and integrity as their campus-based counterparts, while offering the flexibility to fit your needs.
Hundreds of undergraduate and graduate courses are offered online each semester, including summer. Course interactions can take place synchronously (same time, different locations) or asynchronously (different times, different locations). Mason currently offers more than 70 fully online or hybrid programs, including bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, graduate certificates, and undergraduate certificates and minors.
George Mason University offers both in-person and virtual visits, so that you can explore campus, learn about our academic programs, and get to know our students, faculty, and staff.
