Transfer Requirements

Mason prides itself on its commitment to simplifying the transfer process. Our streamlined systems are designed to meet the needs of all prospective transfer students, no matter where they are in their educational journey.

You are considered a transfer applicant if you have enrolled at a college or university after graduating from high school or are pursuing a second bachelor’s degree or undergraduate post-baccalaureate certificate.

What You Need to Apply:

  • Official transcripts from all previous colleges/universities
  • Official high school or GED transcript, if applicable
  • Official AP, CLEP, and IB transcripts, if applicable
  • Completed Mason Transfer Application and non-refundable application fee
  • Application submitted by March 1 for fall admission or October 1 for spring admission. Applications submitted after these deadlines are considered on a space-available basis.

Transfer Admission Criteria:

The Admissions Committee considers each transfer application individually, reviewing all grades received in courses attempted. Competitive transfer applicants should have:

  • A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • 24 earned semester credit hours
    • Students who have earned less than 24 transfer credits will be required to submit an official high school transcript for review.
  • English Composition equivalent to ENGH 101
  • College-level math
  • Secondary school coursework or test scores demonstrating English language proficiency

Applicants who have attempted college courses at other institutions are required to disclose their complete academic enrollment history in the admission application. Mason reserves the right to revoke admission or disenroll students who fail to indicate all previous institutions attended on the admission application.

Students who are actively suspended or dismissed will not be offered admission.

Selective Admissions Majors

Admission to Mason as a transfer student does not guarantee admission into your intended major. Certain majors do have additional requirements, such as minimal subject-area grades or submission of a creative portfolio.
